Equestrian Team Encourages Everyone

Last month (December 31--January 11) LATCOM sent to Bolivia a small “equestrian” team to Camp Monte Blanco. Joining LATCOM missionaries Ceci Ramsey and Jamie Anderson were Houghton College professor JoAnne Young and Houghton student Hannah Compton.

Above: the Team visited a local orphanage and passed out
desserts and Houghton College t-shirts.

Although the team specifically went to care for the camp's three horses, they were a huge encouragement and help throughout the camp.

“We had a wonderful time!” Ceci said. “Each day we would ask God and the camp personnel where they needed us most...and we filled in.”

In general the goals of this group were to be an encouragement to the Monte Blanco staff as well as work with the horses.

Goal’s accomplished:

  • Horse care: trimmed hooves, de-wormed, and took care of physical health of the camp’s horses
  • Maintenance and cleaning: patched and painted cabin for staff use; cleaned the chapel, especially area around floor lights
  • Service: cleaned up trash, helped wash dishes, served food, worked in gardens
  • Visitation: visited orphanage (not a LATCOM ministry) in the nearby town of Comarapa, twice, and giving them cookies and Houghton College t-shirts
  • Encouragement: led staff devotions, made special desserts for them, and led them in games
